Dear diary

Captain’s Log, Earth date 18042015.02

Yesterday, Commander Cohab read a sample of recently produced dialogue. Discovered a fondness for dialogue technique called “Erlebte Rede”. When at its best, this technique allows writer to accomplish many things in one go. Reader is invited to take personal part in the events while at the same time watching them from afar (e.g. in an all-knowing state of mild amusement). Story is propelled forward an energetic pace and in an unexpected way. Characters are made to show their character.

Mark Twain, according to Göran Hägg in yesterday’s handouts, was a master at this technique. Mark Twain frequently appeared in childhood readings, but Childhood was a long time ago. Therefore, have extracted relevant novels from bookshelf. Current mission: To go investigate.

This is me, signing off.
